Here's a couple of short animations. I did the same scene with two different angles.

Thank you very much. Smiley

I actually use a program called Carrara Pro 5. I also have three other 3D modelling and animation apps that I use, but Carrara is by far my favorite.

Yes, I'm familar with it... I've used Bryce in the past, which I think is owned by the same company ... Also used Blender extensively but now have Lightwave.

Bryce 5.5 is one of the other apps I use, as well as Blender. They're all excellent programs. I've learned that the History Channel has actually used Blender for CG work in some of their' documentaries.

Yep... I like Blender a lot... open source, FREE, etc. (for those interested, check http://www.blender.org/) ... learn about Suzanne the Monkey, etc.

Here are a couple of my blender animations:

Amazing work. I really liked the Alien Subway.

Blender is definitely a great program. It's learning curve is a lot steeper than Bryce and Carrara, but it more than makes up for it with it's fluid dynamics and soft material features.

Thanks!

Another science fiction animation I did recently in Lightwave 9.3 ... see:

Hmm, for some reason I couldn't seem to get ahold of the link. I'd love to see it though. Is it also on Youtube?

Joel, you may need to upgrade to the Adobe Flash 9 viewer... I've started doing all my video streams in it. ...

if you can't see the video, there should be a link to the upgrade showing.

My word, that was Awesome. That floating city looks like it must have taken quite some time to complete. I've never used Lightwave before, but I know that it's been used in film and tv shows. What I loved about it was how smooth everything was moving. Working with 3D animation is very intricate, but extremely rewarding work.

Have you ever done it professionally?

Yet, another one of my sci-fi animations. Called "Taking Refuge on Phobos". It's not quite done yet, as there's some intricate camera work that I plan on investing, but the general idea is there. Smiley

NICE! ... Phobos, for those that might not know, is the larger of the two Martian moons ("the hurtling moons of Barsoom" as Edgar Rice Burroughs described them).

You got some good stuff going, Joel!

Thank you very much. Smiley

Astronomy is one of my biggest interests. I'm actually in the process of creating a short series of some of the Solar System's most interesting places. These 3D packages have been a gigantic help in accomplishing my goal.

I'm also a huge fantasy buff, which makes the programs so fun, because you can realize so many visions with them.
